Frequently asked questions

I'M INTERESTED! HOW DO I SIGN UP?

a. You can book or sign up for our current classes here.

b. If you have some enquiries, drop your message in our chatbox or enquiry form here! Our team will get back to you shortly.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

Not at all. Many students come for our classes alone, or with a group of friends. In any case, during the class, you will be partnered up with your classmates. As partners will be rotated in class, it will be a great way to meet new friends!

CAN I STAY WITH THE SAME PARTNER?

a. Rotating partners is not solely for social reasons; it is critical to the learning process. Although everyone has a different style, the “lead” signals that are used are generally standardized (within the different styles). Therefore, if your lead signals are clear (as a leader), or if you’re able to interpret these signals accurately (as a follower), then you should be able to dance with any dancer. Dancing with different partners will give you a true test of whether your leading/following technique is correct.

b. It is absolutely your choice if you wish to dance only with your partner outside of class. However, during class, it is necessary to rotate partners as that is part of the learning process.

c. Alternatively, if you do not wish to rotate partners, you can do a private class instead. With a private class, you can structure it according to your preference and learn at your own pace. Drop us an enquiry to let us know how we can cater to your needs.

MODE OF PAYMENT

a. HOW DO I MAKE PAYMENT?
- You can make payment by cash/credit card/bank transfer/PayID.
- Once we receive your registration, we will send an email confirmation with payment instructions.

b. HOW DO I PRE-PAY FOR CLASSES?
You can sign up and pre-pay here.

I'LL NEED TO MISS A CLASS, WHAT NOW?

Our regular package classes are offered at a reasonable rate to encourage and ensure a good learning experience for attending students at Zouk Unity Dance School. However we do understand that 'life happens', so if you do miss any of the regular classes under a package offer, we can offer the following credit structure. If you can’t attend for any reason you must advise us via email ZoukUnitySydney@gmail.com prior to that class. What we offer is a flat and maximum of $15 off if you missed any one or more classes of your package, if and when you enrol for the immediate next term of package classes. This is a maximum of $15 off no matter how many classes you have missed during the term, but you must have missed at least one class.

There will be no refund on missed classes. We could negotiate a partial or full refund only in clearly extenuating circumstances made by the judgement of our directors at Zouk Unity.

You  can read our terms & conditions for greater detail.

I HAVE ATTENDED OTHER DANCE CLASSES BEFORE, WHAT LEVEL SHOULD I BEGIN WITH?

If you have attended other Street Latin Dance classes prior (Salsa, Bachata, etc), as street Latin is a very unique genre on its own and each dance school has its own syllabus and style, you would require a quick 5min assessment to better advise on which is a suitable level for the students to join in. This will ensure all our students are attending a suitable course at their own comfortable pace. Tell us more about you in our enquiry form and our team can get your sorted quickly.

For students who have other prior dance background (e.g. Latin Ballroom, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, etc), it is strongly recommended to commence your Zouk journey from the Beginner Level 1 as the fundamentals and basics of the dance is very different from the other dances. It is always good to build a strong foundation in a new dance before moving to a higher level. You can also drop us an enquiry if you'd like to check your level with us.
